Chingay 2001
10 February 2001

Enthusiastic line dancers boogied along the stretch of road between Victoria Concert Hall and Singapore Cricket Club on 10 February 2001 evening. This was the first mass line dance performance in Chingay! A group of young dancers kick off the show, followed by two adult groups, ending with a grand finale by about 250 persons dancing "Tush Push" and "Electric Slide". The participants were members and guests of the Country Line Dance Association (Singapore).

Notes: Chingay Singapore is held every year as part of the Chinese New Year Celebrations. It derives its name from two Chinese words meaning a decorated miniature stage or float borne on the shoulders of the performers. Since its launch in 1973 as a humble procession, Chingay Singapore has evolved into a festival that encompasses the celebration of culture and tradition, and is one of the top parades in Asia.
