Heart of My Heart
- Paul Overstreet -

Posted: 7 Jun 2003

Singaporeans are stressed out recently.

Time for a melodious voice singing your heart out to a Country tune, add an easy and smooth flowing line dance, and there you have it: the perfect combination of a relaxng country line dance.

Paul Overstreet really sings his heart out with Heart of My Heart, while country line dancers accompany him with My Heart is Your Heart by Jane Thorpe.

Hundreds of country line dancers were relaxing themselves last night at Far East Square. They are doing it again next week. So, is your heart my heart?

FiESTa! closed. Clubhouse opened.

Posted: 4 Jun 2003

Congratulations to Far East Square for being selected as the ticket redemption centre for the National Day Parade 2003! This is the first time a redemption centre is set up in a commercial venue outside the usual military base and national stadium.

In view of the ticket redemption activities, FiESTa! shall be closed on 27 Jun 2003 and 4 Jul 2003. So, where to line dance these two Friday nights? Have no fear, CLDAS members and guests can come dance in the CLDAS Clubhouse. More details at our Eventsinfo page.

FiESTa! Dance Requests

Posted: 31 May 2003

WHO has taken Singapore out of the SARS list. Out goes the Health Declaration Form and in comes the FiESTa! Request FormMS Excel file.

You already heard that CLDAS members get to request their favorite dances in our weekly Friday jam. So here is the FiESTa! Request FormMS Excel file to send in the requests. Please read the important notes in the request form. It breaks our hearts to disappoint you when you do not follow the procedures.

For your convenience, the extract below gives you the request procedures:

Request Procedures

  • 2. Submit your requests by email to fesrequest@cldas.com in the official form above. All fields must be filled or the form will be void.
  • 3. Request submission closes on Monday 12 noon. Late submission will be discarded.
  • 4. Limited to 2 requests per CLDAS member per weekly submission.

But please read through the other notes as well. And remember to bring your CLDAS membership card and the music CDs or we might just have to disappoint you after all.

Bare Essentials

Posted: 31 May 2003

Quite a few CLDAS members are concerned about our web site: What happened to the colors? Why only black and white? What gives?

Dear friends, this is no ordinary line dance web site. This is the official web site of Country Line Dance Association (Singapore). We do things country line dance styles.

You have just experienced the Bare Essentials style. But maybe Simply Blue suits you better? Or Moon Time is more your taste?

Site theme or site style is the in-thing on the web. Look out for more themes to come under the "Theme" heading by the side.

P.S. if you do not see any changes after selecting a different theme, try pressing the F5 function key, or look for the "Reload" or "Refresh" command in your browser menu. This takes care of the problem most of the time.

These Boots are Made for Walkin'
- Billy Ray Cyrus -

Posted: 30 May 2003

Country line dancers really look to their feet a lot.

For one thing, country line dance focuses on the footwork. If you don't get your footwork right, you don't even talk about other styling. For another, all cowboy gears can wait but a good pair of dancing boots.

What am I trying to say?

When you print out the dance list for FiESTa!info, don't forget to read the footnote as well. If you do, dear CLDAS members, you would have noticed a new exciting feature coming your way!

Scooter-ing back for a fun time

Honky Tonk Merry-Go-Round, Round II

Posted: 28 Jan 2003

... and the Saga continues.

The story so far: FiESTa! is moving from Sunday to Friday starting 14 Feb 2003 with a new time slot of 7 - 11 pm. FLiDay, our Friday Line Dancing at Hwa Chong Swimming Complex for CLDAS members will go the way of the dinosaurs.

Starting 23 Feb 2003, 7:30 - 11 pm, a new Sunday Line Dancing emerges at Terrace Studio, Victoria Theatre, 3rd floor. And to help our Sunday FiESTa! regulars to fight the no-line-dance-withdrawal-symdromes, the event is open to public as well!

Looking through the glass at beautiful night sky, dancing all night on a lavish parquet floor, while enjoying the cool breeze in the air-conditioned hall, it is S$4 / S$5 (CLDAS members / Public) well spent.

But have we seen the last of the Honky Tonk Merry-Go-Round? Don't bet on it! Round III is just round the corner ...

Dancing on the walls

Posted: 2 Nov 2001

Line dancers at the Hwa Chong Alumni Association Hall have to dance on the walls ... almost. The hall is packed full of fervent dancers from wall to wall testing out the new dance ground of the Friday Line Dancing. It is the opening night at the new venue for this weekly event organized by the Country Line Dance Association (Singapore). Formerly, the event was held at SAFRA Bukit Merah. The move was made in view of the better facilities.

For the occasion, CLADS has thrown the house open to guests with this members-only event. Entrance tickets are also sold at special reduced prices. During the night, two line dances are taught: G*E*L by Ms. Cynthia Neo and Pitiful Me by Mr. Ong Kee Lin.

Friday Line Dancing is a weekly event organized by CLDAS with admission restricted to CLDAS members. CLDAS also organizes a free-for-all dancing session at Far East Square every Sunday. Details on the Regular Eventsinfo page.

Move it on over, Friday.

Posted: 22 Oct 2001

Come 2 November 2001, Friday Line Dancing is moving to Hwa Chong Swimming Complex, courtesy of Hwa Chong Alumni Association.

The new venue is much more spacious with beautiful parquet flooring. It's no sweat dancing in a ventilated hall equipped fully with air-conditioners and fans. Diehard line dancers as you are just going to love it.

And get this: For the opening night on 2 November 2001, you, as a member of CLDAS, pay just S$2 / pax. Plus, you get to invite your guests at S$4 / pax. Isn't that great?

So, it's bye bye SAFRA Bukit Merah! And hello Hwa Chong Swimming Complex!

Roses are red

Posted: 5 Oct 2001

With the teaching of San Antone Rose by Ms. Helen Loh, Friday Line Dancing witnesses a new feature in the event: Introduction of a line dance on the first Friday of a month.

From October 2001 onwards, Country Line Dance Association (Singapore) has fixed the first Friday of a month as teaching night in its continuos efforts to enhance the services to its members. All new dances will be taught by the member instructors of the Association. Ad hoc teaching of new dances may also be volunteered by the member instructors during the month.

The King and the Blonde

Posted: 11 Aug 2001

Pedro & Morgan have the crowd cheering on their spectacular performances in the Dinner & Dance of the Country Line Dance Association (Singapore). Between Pedro & Morgan, three performances are put up throughout the night. Morgan dances to the tune of "Big Deal", with Pedro following up with a medley of songs much later. The duo jive into some East Coast Swing in their finale.

Pedro Machado and Morgan Ratcliffe, both holding world championship titles in line dancing, are the special guests of the Association at its anniversary celebrations. Besides the performances, they have conducted line dance workshops earlier in the day. Pedro and Morgan are stopping over Singapore in their "2001 Country Dance with Attitude Tour", with Japan and Australia being the other two destinations in the tour.

Recently, Pedro won the "2001 Line Dance Mardi Gras King" title, while Morgan, a blonde, has come to be known as the "Blonde Bombshell". Find out more on their web sites: Pedroremote and Morganremote.

Overwhelming response shifts workshop

Posted: 8 Aug 2001

An overwhelming response to the General Line Dance Workshop with Pedro & Morgan has the Country Line Dance Association (Singapore) shifting the workshop venue at the eleventh hour. The workshop, to be held in the afternoon of 11 Aug 2001, is moved to the Ballroom where the Dinner & Dance will be held the same night.

Spaces in the line dance workshop has been filling up fast since its announcement. Anticipating that the original venue cannot cope with the growing number of participants, the Association has looked for alternatives without avail due to National Day celebrations around the period. Though the shift to the Ballroom will disrupt the preparation of the night, the Association has decided to do so instead of disappointing the enthusiastic line dancers.

The line dance workshop is held in conjunction with the first anniversary of the Association. Private workshops with Pedro & Morgan are also available for line dancers who prefer a more personal touch.

Both Mr. Pedro Machado and Ms. Morgan Ratcliffe hold world championship titles in line dancing. More about them on the web sites of Pedroremote and Morganremote.
